On Monday, August 10, 2020, our firm filed a lawsuit ( to read the complete lawsuit, click here) that contends the University of North Carolina safety measures are inadequate to have students return to the sixteen campuses of the UNC system (read more here)

Our suit, filed on behalf of UNC employees, seeks more protective equipment such as masks and face shields and have provided an inadequate student and faculty testing systems and procedures.

Shipman & Wright managing partner Gary Shipman notes, ”They are relying totally on students to be truthful about whether they have symptoms, understanding that we now know that as many as 40% of patients who tested positive had no symptoms. And then once they get on campus, we’re relying on those same students to report symptoms that they have once they get on campus.”
