North Carolina's Stay at Home Order- What it means to you.

As most of you know, Governor Cooper issued a “Stay at Home” Order on March 27th, which went into effect on March 30, 2020 at 5:00pm. We have received numerous calls, emails and inquiries regarding what this means for each of you. In that regard, Shipman & Wright put together the following outline to highlight portions of the Stay at Home Order:

The following is a brief outline of the Governor’s order.

If you are using outdoor spaces outside your home, you should maintain social distancing of at least six (6) feet from any other person (with the exception of family or household members).
You may leave your home only for Essential Activities, Essential Governmental Operations or participate in Essential Businesses (All Defined below).

Essential Activities:

- - - For Health and Safety
    - For Necessary Supplies and Services
    - For Outdoor Activity (walking, biking, golfing, hiking, etc…)
    - For Certain Types of Work (Those identified as Essential Businesses Below)
    - To Take Care of Others
    - Place of Worship
    - To Receive Goods and Services
    - Place of Residence (To travel between one’s place of residence for purposes of child custody or visitation arrangements)
    - Volunteering
- All non-essential businesses must cease
- All Essential Businesses and Operations should, to the maximum extent possible, direct employees to work from home or telework.
