Originally from Cary, North Carolina, Tom went to UNC Wilmington and majored in Finance. While at UNCW, Tom was a manager on the Men’s Basketball team. After graduation, Tom enrolled in the UNC Wilmington Master of Business Administration program and was the Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Basketball team as well. Tom spent almost five years in the real estate development business managing and directing million dollar projects in Brunswick and New Hanover counties. As Chief Financial Officer of Shipman & Wright, LLP, Tom is responsible for the financial management, marketing, and overall business strategy of the firm. Tom is married to Jodi Peterson, a labor and delivery nurse, and they have two sons, Michael (2 years old) and Matthew (5 months old).
